Financial Issues
Divorce does not end your financial obligations. We specialise in all areas of private family law, including Asset Division, Clean Break Orders, Mahr, Prenuptial Agreements and much more.
Helping you to achieve the best outcome.
We are a collaborative law practice that focuses on strategy and solutions. We can support you with asset advice, legally binding agreements, mediation, Private FDRs or a roundtable meeting.
Dividing your finances doesn’t have to be a battle and using a solicitor doesn’t mean you have to go to court.
How can SKB Law help? We’ll give you realistic advice about your options. We specialise in Asset Division, Clean Break Orders, Financial Provision for Children, Asset Tracing, TOLATA, Prenuptial Agreements, Cohabitation Agreements, Business Evaluation, Pension Claims, Mahr and Gold Jewellery issues and much more. Call our team to find out your options, costs and next steps.
What am I entitled to? There’s no set formula, rules or entitlement for dividing finances on divorce. It will depend on your situation. The goal is to reach a fair settlement for everyone. In general, courts will consider: the length of your marriage; income and earning potential; contributions to the family (e.g. salary or care of children); financial needs and responsibilities; your age and the state of your health; your standard of living. Call our team to better understand your options.
Will I need to go to court? Not always. It’s always best if you can reach an agreement between yourselves. We can then make your agreement legally binding. If you’re unable to agree between yourselves, we can help with negotiation, mediation, arbitration, or a round-table meeting. Court is generally the last step.

How It Works
When it comes to dividing your finances, court isn’t the only option. We recommend speaking with a solicitor to protect your interests and make sure any agreement is legally binding. Start the process by speaking with our experienced family law solicitors.
OPTION ONE
Informal Agreement
It’s always best if you and your former partner can reach an agreement between yourselves. We can review your agreement to make sure it’s legally binding and protects your interests.
OPTION TWO
Solicitor Agreement
If you’re unable to reach an agreement between yourselves, we can negotiate on your behalf – on a voluntary basis. This route can be quicker and cheaper than asking a court.
OPTION THREE
Mediation
A mediator is a neutral third party who will help you and your partner reach an agreement. It can be quicker and cheaper than asking a court.
OPTION FOUR
Round Table Meeting
A good way to reach an agreement with more complex matters. It involves you, your former partner and your respective solicitors meeting for a four-way negotiation.
OPTION FIVE
Court Action
Court should be the last option. But sometimes, it’s the only way to reach a settlement – particularly if your former partner is refusing to disclose assets or compromise.
We recommend speaking to a solicitor to protect your interests and make sure any agreement is legally binding.

What our customers are saying
95% would recommend SKB Law to their family and friends.
Our customers use Review Solicitors, the UK’s largest legal review site to share their views about SKB Law.
Even though I was based in London, SKB Law were extremely sensitive, vigilant and thorough with my divorce proceedings. I had a devious and tricky ex, so it was incredibly stressful. SKB were very understanding and supportive as I was very nervous and emotional, this made me feel very supported and empowered. I’m super happy with my result and will certainly be returning to them for any future advice and have already recommended them to others.

What Is A Clean Break Order?
There is no time limit for making a financial claim against your former spouse. Your ex could make an application many years after you finalise your divorce. For example, if you win the lottery or your business makes a profit, your ex-spouse could file a claim.
A Clean Break Order does exactly what it says…it gives you a clean break from your spouse. This is a future protection tool – it’s useful if you don’t have any assets and both agree to the order.
